8.8-ct Rare Pink Diamond Sells for $6.8m
(IDEX Online) – An extremely rare 8.82-ct fancy intense purple-pink diamond yesterday sold for $6,780,000 at Christie’s New York.
It was well above the pre-sale estimate of $4m to $6m.
The pear modified brilliant-cut gem, known as the Fuchsia Rose diamond (pictured), was certified by GIA as “VVS1 clarity, potentially Internally Flawless, Type IIa” and was set with a pair of pear brilliant-cut diamonds, both 0.61-cts (F/VVS1 and F/VVS2).
Additional highlights include a fancy intense pink diamond ring of 2.44 carats, which sold for $1,620,000 and a fancy vivid yellow diamond ring of 15.31 carats, which sold for $1,320,000.
A round brilliant-cut diamond ring of 51.28 carats, I color, SI1 clarity, sold for $1,620,000.
The Magnificent Jewels sale achieved a total of $25,123,140, with 96 per cent sold by lot and 114 per cent hammer above low estimate.
