Bulgari’s Diamond Tiara Tribute to Queen’s 70 Years on Throne
(IDEX Online) – Bulgari has crafted a platinum, diamond and emerald tiara to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne.
The Italian jeweler says a a team of five, led by a master goldsmith, spent over 1,500 hours creating the piece, which is to be sold privately. No price has been disclosed.
The tiara features a 63.44-carat Zambian emerald, carved with a blooming lotus flower. It is paired with a high jewelry watch in white gold, set with eight emeralds (~18.4ct), round brilliant-cut diamonds, pave-set diamonds on the case and bracelet, and snow-set diamonds on the dial (~11.4ct).
“This high jewelry creation represents a homage to celebrate the 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II,” said Lucia Silvestri, high jewelry creative director at Bulgari.
“I was inspired by the Queen, a strong and powerful woman, an icon of our times, and by her historic admiration of emeralds, to design a piece centered around this striking carved emerald, which showcases Bulgari’s mastery in craftsmanship and creativity.”
The Queen took the throne on 6 February 1952, following the death of her father King George VI. Her coronation was on 2 June 1953 at Westminster Abbey, London.
