Rapper’s Crown of Diamond Thorns, Made by Tiffany & Co
(IDEX Online) – US rapper Kendrick Lamar has revealed that Tiffany & Co made the diamond-encrusted crown of thorns he wore for the cover of his new album.
It was fashioned from 50 thorns, encrusted with over 137 carats of diamonds in the form of 8,000 cobblestone micro pavé diamonds, he told British Vogue magazine
Lamar, 35, wore the Jesus-inspired crown on the cover of his new album of Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, at the Louis Vuitton menswear show in Paris, and at music mega-event the Glastonbury Festival in England last week.
According to the Vogue report, it took 10 months to design, and more than 1,300 hours to create at Tiffany’s New York workshop.
It was cast in 14 components and the diamonds were handset by four craftsmen.
